‍History of OPGK Rzeszów

The District Geodezyjno-Cartographic Enterprise in Rzeszów was established on December 8, 1973 and started its activity on January 1, 1974. The company was established as a result of the integration of several geodetic and cartographic companies operating in the Rzeszów voivodeship. At the time of its establishment, shortly after the takeover of the integrated companies, OPGK Rzeszów employed approximately 1,300 employees. The most numerous group were the employees of the former RzOPM - about 440 people.

From December 1977, the company used the name Okręgowe Przedsiębiorstwo Geodezyjno-Kartograficzne "Geokart" in Rzeszów (in short: OPGK "Geokart" Rzeszów).

In 1994, the company changed its name due to the reservations of Przedsiębiorstwo Eksportu Geodezji i Kartografia GEOKART in Warsaw regarding the use of the word GEOKART in the name. The General Meeting of Shareholders (April 16, 1994) amended the Articles of Association by adopting a new wording of the company: Przedsiębiorstwo Geodezyjno-Kartograficzne OPGK Rzeszów SA The abbreviated wording of OPGK Rzeszów SA was also allowed to be used.

In 2011, the IT Department was established, the initial assumption of which was to support the work of geodesists in the field of map production.

Due to the dynamic development of the IT Department, a dedicated OPGK Software brand was created in 2017, representing the IT Division, which, of course, still remains part of OPGK Rzeszów.
